Union boss hits at 'dangerous' Ukip

A union leader will accuse Ukip of being "downright dangerous".

Beryl Shepherd, president of the Communication Workers' Union will say the party led by Nigel Farage is anti-women, anti-diversity and anti the NHS.

She will tell the opening day of the CWU's annual conference in Bournemouth on Sunday: "They are no friends of the trades union movement.

"It is a sobering moment when we hear Ukip supporters trying to endear themselves to the working class and that some people are persuaded by their rhetoric.

"They are not the party of the working class," she will say, branding the party as "downright dangerous".

Much of the union's work could be "wasted" and its policies harder to deliver if any party other than Labour wins the general election, she will say.

These union leader-types never seem to acknowledge the fact that opening the country's borders to all + sundry, hence flooding the country with unskilled workers, has stifled wage-growth for their core working-class "support" . Strange that..

what could be more dangerous than another tory or labour government? How many more wars are they going to throw us in which cost billions? We are over populated & our children cannot get into chosen schools, nobody can access the nhs,we have ran out of houses, jobs are given to who will work for the least and the list goes on!
Food banks are full of british people & our government sends billions of foreign aid abroad every year!!!! My vote is with ukip.

I think all working class people are ukip candidates even if they dont know it, common sense tells you whats happened to this country & what will sort it out if theres time left!
Only a life long labour voter would vote labour as they refuse to see the devastation the last labour government left us in! And the tory's have been just as bad!

Farage pretty much says what most working class people think, while patronising socialist workers types sneers at ordinary people and try to control our thinking and how we should do what they say even if it's wrong, I have read Animal Farm and see some parallels.

I can't stand Milliband, he hasn't got a clue, is vague, is not a peoples person, lacks the common touch and is certainly not Prime Minister material.

I'm going to vote tactically.

Farage was educated at Dulwich College, a public school in south London.[16] On leaving school in 1982, he decided not to go to university, but to work in the City, trading commodities at the London Metal Exchange.[14] Initially, he joined the American commodity brokerage firm Drexel Burnham Lambert,[16] transferring to Credit Lyonnais Rouse in 1986.[16] He joined Refco in 1994, and Natexis Metals in 2003

So working class?
Ever felt you have been duped?

Shall we mention his tax and expenses fiddles?

Really, you think in a Democracy that attempts to discuss, debate and generally examine policies are an attempt to control peoples thinking.

Media Moguls maybe but ordinary voters.

I am glad you don't include my type of lefty as the Socialist Workers are a revolutionary body who want to overthrow the government, so yes they may want to control thought. But what about those lefties who oppose and want to challenge UKIPs politics and philosophises, but want to work within the Democratic system. Of course we want you to change your mind, as we think UKIPs policies are dangerous and divisive, but that's hardly wanting to control it.

Democracy is a free expression of political choices, when Farage went on his speaking tours he got followed by a Socialist worker rent a mob, threatened, shouted down and trapped in a pub, that's not democracy that dictatorial intimidation tactic preventing free expression of political views, how can that be right ?

As to Labour I have nothing against it and indeed voted in the past for them, however with the current leader I have no confidence in him or his ability to do the job, he is the wrong man for the job, as to the others I will judge as I see fit, no rent a mob is going to change my mind it will serve to harden my views.

The OP never said Farage was "working class", he said UKIP's policies appeal to much of the working class, and it appears they do.
Get a few beers down the Average working Joe and he'll readily identify with Farage's policies, both real and imagined.

Yes I agree mobbing someone in an attempt to drown them out is wrong, but its not dictatorial, and the rest of us Lefties shouldn't be tarred with the same brush.

Hope not Hate made an error in that Demo, (I don't think it was a SWP one but I may be wrong) now Farage and UKIP have used it as a basis to play the Victim Card to some good effect. The thing is that he says he is a change to the Establishment, but he is the Establishment - a rich career politician that worked in the City, a committed Thatcherite who left the Conservative Party when John Major was its leader. It would be hard to find anyone more stereotypical of Politicians. Except of course for his investigation by Trading Standards for selling BBC DVDs, he did admit the charge though. He has even had undeclared gifts investigated to match the Westminster lot on expenses.

That is the main problem with the Westminster bubble, all the Leaders are cookie cuts from the same mould, Labour, Conservatives and UKIP, all white, rich and white collar - frankly all unrepresentative of the average brit.

That last paragraph..and where "alternatives" have been tried, they've often been either useless, fantasists or crooked, or all three.
Think useless Greens in Brighton, or the Asian nepotistic mafia in Tower Hamlets last year.

Not saying the UKIP did it, in fact its reported that a splinter group of the EDL were the culprits, but just like we shouldn't tar UKIP with actions by others outside their control, then UKIP supporters shouldn't blame labour and other lefties for actions by parties also outside their control.
