Why are we all putting up with this rubbish?

The Union is not helping us.

We are supposed to be signed up to an agreement where we will not be bullied etc. etc.

But what is happening - a lot of us posties are sick of the job due to bullying and not having enough time to complete the delivery, having to argue with management every day before you go out; getting conducted for the most trivial of things; management not listening when you say the walk is too long; adding more to your walk when you told them that you didn't have enough time.........

I am now on sick leave with stress.

I never thought that anything could get to me, but this has after two years of not being listened to.

Something has to be done, and soon!

its not bullying its a discussion where we are wrong, end of,
this job is shot, we were all told to look at the jobs page this week and to realise how lucky we are
granted its good money for unskilled labour as now, but give it 2 to 3 years with no pay rise and it'll be on parity to trolley sorting in a supermarket.
don't forget "we" voted this deal, 5/6 years ago they'd be strikes all over the place, now its grin and bear it.
what gets me is union reps agreeing to everything, there will be no cwu in 3 years time within royal mail, their cushy will be over too

What happened when you asked you rep to help you put ina grievance about all this?

i was bullied and harassed by my manager for years ,,at one point i was suspended for 3 months facing about 10 charges at the end of all enquiries ,, i was found guilty on a technicality of half a charge ,, to justify this i was given a 2 year suspended ,, when i left i had 3 outstanding grievances against him still needing to be completed after more than a year .,, it sounds as though things havent changed in the last 9-10 months

The rep is very cosy with management.
I don't have anything to do with him anymore.
Yes, I can put a complaint in about this rep, but I have enough stress as it is at the moment.

What I don't understand, is why (and it looks like it is all) managers have gone on courses to learn how to treat us like s**t.

Don't they realise that if they treat us better then we will try that little bit harder???

It just doesn't make any sense.

2) unachievable walks worked out by planners and a computer which have no sense of the real world
3) pressure coming down from the top with impossible savings targets
4) managers who cant manage and have no people skills

pretty much 100% accurate! I would say you got the order right aswell!

And pressure from the greedy shareholders , they don't care if you drop down dead . Most in our place now don't work there day off , and work to time end off. A work to rule would sort things out alł over country .

I could never understand why RM have never insisted on boxes at the end of long drives, rather than having to waste time taking it to the door. More so now that we have lost the push bikes that saved a lot of time and wear and tear on the knees/legs. I was told by another postie that RM were given the chance to implement this years ago, but for some reason they did not pursue it.

I appreciate that if this had come in that jobs would have been lost as it would save on time and rounds would be bigger with less posties needed. However, with the revisions it seems to be wearing people out. I find it very frustrating walking miles just to deliver some s"hit.

Perhaps if the Green Party get in things might change.... .......or more likely pigs might fly

I think the union reps could keep posties better informed by having weekly meetings where we can all find out what's going on and how best to deal with things like being bullied. I think a lot of people in that position feel isolated. If posties knew the union had their backs they might be more willing to stand up to managers.

It's because the people that live at the end of long drives are the people that run the country.

We have weekly meetings and in an office of 200+ its the same 5 that keep turning up.

spot on, the union are becoming another layer of management. its easy now for the reps to just go along with the management but along with Points 1-4 even a Militant Union Rep , for want of a better word , would have his work cut out.
For me , after Privatisation , this was always going to be the case. the Delivery guys and girls need to stick together like glue but reading on here that does not seem to be the case . I think it will become even more so a job for the young and the runners because it sounds as though by the time you get to 50 you will be shot away.
