Unit Rep Release Time

As a new rep in an office of approx 40 walks I currently get no release time. I am constantly overrunning on delivery due to union work. Though I claim the overtime this I feel is not the way forward, and it is being detrimental to my opg delivery role?

How do you do your union business in your office? How do you manage your time? Question goes out to all reps.

Show your manager the A.C.A.S code of practice re release time/Facilities for Union Representatives.Availabe from the ACAS website.

If he continues to refuse you suitable time or facilities raise it with your branch Secretary and it should be sorted .
Or raise a grievance/disagreement yourself .

P.S. I guarantee he doesnt even know that it is a STATUTORY right for facility time re your Union work .

Mate it's in the I R Framework agreement, check it out in Downloads, don't wish to be disrespectful but if you can't negotiate your own release time, how are you gonna represent Members

Thanks postman they make good reading. Shame this forum has some unhelpful reps who are probably not on delivery but are quick to make snide comments against others that are trying to make a difference. Maybe my question wasn't clear enough for some to understand.

The best advice I can give you at the moment is growing a thicker skin mate, you're going to need it.
