With work loads gone beyond impossible and unbearable, they want more walk out, and delivery staff to work more... well over your time, not pay you for it, no thanks for working over your time, no gratetude..


Management want you to work for nothing, say you can do it.. deliveries 5 hour plus....

Its now just a matter of time before posties keel over from exhaustion and fatigue...

It's the capitalist way, pay less work harder, once they have squeezed us to the limits for higher productivity they'll start squeezing the wages, a race to the bottom and a strategy fully endorsed by the Tories and Nu-Labour with the Unions sitting there like lapdogs.

also, you can come in on your time/take your break/use all delivery methods/ do delivery to neighbor & not work a minute over if you do not want to!

And this is exactly what is wrong.......

The dumb and dumber posties who race round trying to beat each other back to the van on every loop. Doing loops in 25-30 minutes because they cut across gardens, hurdle over fences, carrying a large bundle of mail under their armpit so they can cram more packets in the pouch. They are the selfish ones who are making the job un-workable for everyone else in the time specified...and worst of all...they know it.

And i've timed my duty. From leaving the office at the specified time, to the time it takes to drive out to the delivery points, timed every loop (from 40 mins to 55 on the largish loop), the extra time it takes to deliver packets, the time it takes to deliver the lapse (which took 50 mins) and the time it takes to drive back. In all, 35 minutes over the time when I arrived back to the depot. On a moderately busy day I burned off 1,058 calories and walked an average of 23:42 minutes per mile! I used the Runkeeper App by the way.

And yet, the manager still thinks its ok to keep lapsing, even when he knows full well its not do-able in the time...

However, I do have an excellent reason for getting the lapse taken off!

We need a work to rule everywhere , that's the best way to tell them we've had enough . Stáff are dropping like flies in our office and surrounding ones , joint problems , back , hip and shoulder problems . The new way of working has so many things wrong with it . Every day staff are bein conduct coded for trivial things , every week they come out with sthing else to put the pressure on , as longs the shareholders are happy and there bonuses are safe . Staff are at breaking point . A once great service .

I think people should be forced to start at their start times unless paid overtime,also the whole office should be frozen at a certain time,say 8.30,and brakes should be taken.Worked in an office where a manager did just that,he yelled "break time!" and everything stopped,i looked around in bewilderment but what a great and simple idea.We have no rep in our office and i looked into maybe being one but too many people come in early,never take breaks,never cut off or speak up for themselves.If they all do this then what good could i do as a rep if they refuse to help themselves? Shooting themselves in the foot,cutting off their noses to spite their faces and i just cannot be bothered to try and educate pork.
