Butchered Delivery Overnight Fuming!

Hi Guys, I'd appreciate peoples thoughts on this one interested to see what anyone makes of this.

Here goes.

There has been talk for the past month or so of the delivery that I do along with my P+L partner changing to accommodate a fellow worker with a sort of disability.

We came in this morning to find 99% of the walk 'gone' ie swapped over with the other effected walk.

It has caused chaos to be honest rushing this in overnight.

Here are the reasons why.

1. Mech sequenced mail is still going to other walk and vice-versa - having to sift through it to pick out certain parts that are still on the same walk, nightmare.
2. Missorts are a joke now as nobody now knows who does what.
3. Specials are all now wrong, having to say that's not on here anymore etc.
4. Partner had prepped election and D2D material which was all pulled out as the frames are now totally different.
5. Extra wings that supposedly were to be added in order to cut down double slots (lots) have not been.
6. No loops or anything marked on frame at all which caused us to mess about once out in order to make loops up.

I think that covers it.

An absolute clusterf*** Union were not involved in this coming in overnight as they didn't know it was happening today although they did know it was going live one day - I thought it would come in when A. Election material was done and B. They had sorted all the Mech/sorting correctly.

Partner spoke to them but got sweet fa from them, useless spineless springs to mind.


Sorry for the long-winded rant but we are well pissed off to say the least.


Thoughts please? how would you deal with this? I reckon we will struggle everyday bar the extremely light days (today) to complete where's before with the old paired up duties we did not have an issue.

I wouldnt worry about any of that, its the mangers problem just highlight it to him and then follow his instructions, just work to your time and cut off correctly if needed

All you can do is do your job. If you cannot complete then cut off. If lots of extra work is created by missorts then you work away maximising indoor work and cutting off more. Do not feel territorial about your walk. It is not your responsibility to do it all. The fact that the changes have been done to accommodate a colleague with a disability is irrelevant.

Thanks Guys for the replies, I know we shouldn't get too worked up but it's just the way it's been handled you couldn't make it up... well they just did!

We always like to complete but it looks like that will now go out the window.

Whats the point of signing for a duty if they can just throw you off due to other staffing issues, do you have low seniority?

If you cut off every day your managers might look into trying to resolve the issue. If you just work over and book time they probably wont bother. Your choice!

Seniority has nothing to do with this situation, he has not been thrown off his duty, his duty has been altered to accommodate someone with a equalities act condition, this can happen to anyone regardless of seniority

He has effectively been 'thrown' off the duty he signed for around 12mths ago as it is now the other fellas duty which is pretty naughty really as his issues were known when he signed for the unsuitable duty.

Not naughty in the slightest, the new duty is the one he medically needs now not his old one, his "issues" as you put it may have been known but may have got worse or thought the other duty would be fine but now finds that the duty he signed for is unsuitable and as such needs to now change then that's what has to happen.

Fair enough in your opinion however it should have been flagged up when he went to sign for 'his' delivery so this scenario didn't come about but that's bad Management for you.

I have sympathy for the bloke and get on well with both however my partner has been treated very harshly in all this from start to finish.
