Bank holiday rest day

Post by carnage2011 »

Just a quick one really, if my day off is on a bank holiday this week and they cannot offer me a day off the following week can I request the day be paid as overtime? Heard stories of people doing this at some offices and wondered what the official line is?

The official line is in here..

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... sp#p692134" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Where an individual’s rest day coincides with a Bank Holiday they will have the option of being credited with a day in lieu equivalent to the hours they would normally work on that day or alternatively they can claim BH excess equivalent to the hours they would normally work on that day
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I took this issue up recently with my managers and asked to have bank holiday payments backdated, only to be told we have a local agreement in place that means we only get credited with a lieu day. I followed this up via Justsayit. Our managers were contacted by our local senior manager and it was sorted out very quickly. I had my bank holidays backdated for the last financial year and other posties are now chasing theirs up too. All thanks to information and advice gathered on this site.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
