Polling cards

My partner and I have a very large walk, so the Dom gave us till Friday to do the polling cards.(which we were happy with as it is a good earner).When we got back today we found he had sent the PHG(his golden boy) out with some. Surely this isn't fair?

Can he do this? Yes. Is it fair? No.

Last election two lots of election leaflets turned up on my day off. My regular cover guy was off so they put a temporary cover on my walk and he took both lots but funnily enough didn't bother with his share of the regular leaflets!

When I brought this up with the manager in charge of processing all the election stuff he just said "tough anyone can do any of the election leaflets on any walk!"

Most people would have the decency to let you do them on your own walk but RMs culture of "every man for himself" seems stronger than ever these days!

Same here. 3.5 hours overtime. We had to count them and fill in a sheet. The sheet had mon-fri on it, no saturday. We had to deliver them all on the saturday, no explanation.

WTF?? Are our wonderful leaders at hq aware of this kind of stuff and choosing to ignore it and concentrate on an election instead or will they actually defend the people who pay their wages.

remember last year on local elections
3 councils in our d/o, 2 were RM stamped, ours were "adare"?
we had 1 day, the rest had 3 days, no bargaining, all had to go that day and no overtime or cannot claim extra payments if we didn't clear.
yet the other 2/3rds of our d/o had a steady 3-5 days, they gave certain walks an extra 2 days if covers didn't take them?

Even worse one office spilt the moneys so a indoor duty gets 1.5 p for sorting them the person delivering them gets half of the money due. Not sure if that goes against agreements.

When do we get payed for these? I delivered them all last Tuesday and nothing as yet.

Confirm what the arrangements are in your office, but it they processed it Tuesday/Wednesday last week it should show in your pay this week.

Different offices work in different ways. Some process as the OPG hands his claim in, some process them at the end if the week as a batch, others will keep them till all the election material is delivered, and a rare few (I hope) will process them after the GE.

In my office the dom and union rep have agreed to work out the payment over an average of delivery points for the whole town and give the drivers 25% of the payment,totally wrong imo and it means if someone has 450 drops on his delivery he gets the same as somebody who has 800 drops.
some of the drivers in our office have no houses just firms, but what can we do as the union rep ans the dom have agreed this.

Call a meeting,and if the majority of you don't want it to happen,it doesn't happen.
Rep should of consulted the office 1st anyway.
