Things that annoy you about your partners delivery bag prep.

Being a reserve I work with a variety of partners and I do have the odd pet hate with certain posties that prep my bag. Here is 3 of mine.
We have one postman that make big bundles but only use one rubber band around the middle to secure the bundle. This amounts in lots of split bundles when bringing them out of your bag.

Another is that no matter the size of the packet even of its a very slim letter sized jiffy we have a postman that will not have them in the bundle so when you come to a door and a letter is turned you eventually find the smallest packet at the bottom of your bag that would be better in the bundle.

There is also one that will turn a letter for a packet but never writes on the letter the house where the packet is so if there is no mail for that address but they have a packet then a letter will be turned for a previous address with nothing written on the letter to tell you where the packet is for. A blank turned letter usually indicates there is a packet for the same address as the turned letter to me.!!

Small loose parcel in pouch, say so on backfaced letter eg. "sm"

Everyone I know writes on the backfaced letter, to say where the parcel is for, unless it is just for the backfaced letter address. Except one, who regularly cuts off, catches so many out and causes chaos during Xmas pressure (when there is actually a parcel for house before and backfaced letter number)!

you can blame RM for the crappy bands!


For my one - I float all over the place, but my one would be small packets not being prepped into the bundle - i am also to blame as I am renown for making massive bundles!

Some people will never listen or do what their partners want... The biggest being people that refuse to turn or mark for packets; some say it is for newbies - really? Some will then give you the bag and try to tell you where the packets are for - why bother wasting that time when a few seconds turning for packets will do? As if I will remember what they have told me

I have so many:- but I will come with an obscure one first. Posties with twisted and often un-adjustable bag straps... I will also add those with dirty, mangy, old bags that refuse to move with the times - bags that cannot be used on LWT; some of them expect you to wind the useless twisty straps around the LWT hooks. Why oh why?

Not putting the packets in the bag in any logical sequence, i.e. just throwing them in the bag in any random order. It only takes a few seconds to sequence them into the bag, that way when you get a packet you know it will likely be the first one at the front.

1. Small packets thrown in to the depths of the bag rather than in the bundles
2. Bags jammed tight due to overloading/overweight with packets.
3. No bag used at all ('couldn't be bothered'?), so grey trays instead, the contents which have to be dispensed out on delivery into a bag.
4. Bundles wrapped so they run out in the middle of a block of flats, some way from the trolley, or wrapped up on the basis that no trolley is going to be used (when I prefer using one to take weight off the shoulder).

Glad you mentioned that one I thought it was just me wondering how people use bags with twisted straps you can't adjust that are at full length slapping against your ankles !!

Oh yeah another one, annoying jiffy bag type pkt with a plug in it in the middle of an already massive bundle that explodes all over the floor when you get it out so you then spend 10 minutes trying to get the letters back in order.

Guilty as charged on that, but in my defense there are rarely designated bags around, it's quicker putting each loop in a tray than labelling up bags, trays are tidier in the van when empty and stacked.

What annoys me is not putting the D2D as the last item for the address so you have to faff about pulling mail out either side of it. Also I'm not keen on 739s being used as packet markers in the bundle either as you can end up posting them by mistake.

I don't understand why some of the posties tie knots in the straps of the bag, so you cannot adjust the strap at all and more often than not the straps have been tied far to short. Theres one guy that has done it to all his bags, I've mentioned to him and he kinda agrees with me and doesn't know why he does it

Yah cable ties stopping you adjusting the straps on the bags should be illegal.
