No set date for them as its up to the returning officer how they are sent and when, as long as they meet their deadlines.

What exactly do we (extra) paid for?

Does it include addressed polling cards or addressed leaflet or un-addressed election material/leaflet.

I had one from Labour (local candidate) today and it had election material (or something like that) written on it...

don't forget you have 3 working days to deliver ALL addressed election material and poll cards and 7 working days for unaddressed election material.

WE WERE INFORMED TODAY
to get payment of 6p we must deliver all polling cards
persons not wanting to go over their time will not be paid anything for poll cards
persons not wanting to do poll cards or election materials must find someone else willing to do them on their behalf or swap duty
as they are coming dsa we only get 1 day to complete them dom telling us national agreement
although people who cut off and do say 80% of the cards may be paid ???????

Is this in writing anywhere specifically about the poll cards?

We are only getting paid 3 pence and the cards have not to be counted
They are working it out as the amount of calls we have + 50% . This works out as 1.5 cards for each house. We must deliver them in one day and are not entitled to claim any overtime. Most of us deliver way more than 1.5 per house

As usual our union rep is a complete waste of space

the ones we have had in are franked with 2nd class. ( although I have also seen postal vote cards are mailsort )

you just know that they will come through on Saturday as RM have to give us a day off on Friday and Monday and want to make sure we work feckin hard on the Saturday to make up for that fact.

my DOM is happy with the 3 day delivery for Poll cards, after all, there are still 5 weeks until the election and they will just be sitting around on peoples fridges, Microwaves, Tables, etc until then anyway.

I’m happy to confirm that we take exactly the same view on the extended delivery issue. The unit payments mean we don’t pay overtime for the election material or poll cards but if the volume of ‘non-election material’ workload requires overtime then yes that should be paid in the normal way. The fact that we make election material unit payments on the day does not mean there can be no extended delivery overtime.

Andy and I can make this clear to colleagues.

On your second point you’re right we do recognise there may be occasions where the volume of poll cards and other mail mean is it simply not possible to maintain the full product service specification. But we have to be careful about how we can say this in our communications. We ask people to do all they reasonably can and if having done so some poll cards fall back to the next delivery we would not withhold the unit payment. As you say we will be pragmatic where necessary. I sent the words in red below to our heads of IR in response to a request for clarity on what DOMs should do in the event that volume made it impossible to clear the poll cards on one day.

While we make every effort to meet these service standards there are occasions when volumes make this impossible and some fall into the next delivery. We do not intend to withhold unit payments in the event of this happening.

Don't know where some people are getting the "3 days for delivery" from, they should be delivered according to the spec of the service the returning officer has used, so they all arrive in DOs the day they are due for delivery. If they come through on Saturday and they've been sent mailsort (I think it's more likely they'll come through as either 2C or DSA), then some DOs might hold them back if they have agreements for mailsort to be held back on a Saturday.
