ill health retirement

Post by choppyloop »

Hi,

I have been off work for six months with plantar faciitis and have been offered ill health retirement pending a report from Atos. In the mean time I have been asked if I would take voluntary ill health retirement. can anyone tell me the difference, Mark Jenkins said there was no difference financially, voluntary IHR was a 'gentlemans agreement' but my manager says he thinks there is no remuneration. I would have thought a manager would at least find out but no.

Thanks in advance Gary Kent

This is, as far as I know the current agreement on IHR http://www.glosamal.co.uk/Docs/Group_Il ... nt_200.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can't see anywhere where it says there is a difference apart from a Pensionable or Lump Sum type. However, as it affects you directly it may be worth reading the whole document.

I don' t know much about IHR, but I've never heard of 'voluntary ill health retirement'. Who is Mark Jenkins? And what does he mean by a 'gentlemans agreement' ?
I think that whoever Mark Jenkins is, he is just trying to get you to resign without any compensation, and your manager seems to think that too.

Did you manage to find out any info? Im leaving on IHR pending an atos fce to face meeting which isn't for 2 weeks and quite frankly myself and DOM want this done asap i dont wanna hang about! Even though ive dealt with atos for the past 5 years and they know everything about me they still insist on a face to face surely Royal Mail can override this desision if it amicable from both parties.
