After the EVR/VR etc letters were sent out at the beginning of the year, just wondering how many of us on here have excepted it, and if you have, have you been given a leaving date. (I have agreed to go but have not been told my leaving date yet) 37 years in the job and just turned 55, time to go.

In my office 2 people were give EVR and they have 12 weeks notice to leave. It is big delivery office of 110 walks (I think)

10 in my office - all got dates for leaving, working 6 weeks notice with 6 weeks PILON all bar 1 going on EVR. All of us can't wait to get out and all 30 years plus service, 4 of us 39 years!

No this isn't true. Though RM/HR are targeting workers that have over 25 years service. Having said that, it also depends on your age, conduct record and proximity to your actual retirement age. This is the beginning though. It will be 'when' you are offered EVR not if!!!

To get EVR(Early Voluntary Retirement) you need to be 55 because that's the earliest you can normally access your pension.
To get get VR(Voluntary Redundancy) you can be any age theoretically, but as it's done on seniority, it's usually the longest serving posties that get it.

Guy in our office got told last week and is out on the 3rd of April. He's over the bloody moon and getting the full entitlement

Why would they do that when compulsory redundancy is much cheaper?

Personaly i think we're a long way off any compulsory redundancy. Like dark diamond i've got 37yrs in, i've been told how much my pensions going to be and my last day of service, just waiting now to get it all in writing.

yeah DOM said it was 9wks on top of pension.

I wish I shared your confidence.
The loss of the USO or a move to one wave would mean so many job losses that compulsory redundancy would be on the cards.
I don't think we are that far away.
I believe in one office recently, the VR preference exercise went past number 50 on the seniority list.

were you pleased with your figures? I am 55 in 17 months time, and don't know to go wit 104 weeks VR or take a massive gamble and wait until I am 55 with enhanced figures and 26 weeks compensation, but the MTSF is up for review and there might not get it offered again.
