Collection on Delivery

Hello. Can anyone point me in the direction of any documentation to do with collection on delivery? Essentially regarding how much time should be added into the duty. Thanks in advance

I don't that any time values have been assigned to collection on delivery yet. I've got that argument in the coming weeks and I'll be going for the best I can get!

Me too. He's just said to me they're low volume boxes, implying that time is negligible, but at the end of the day, it seems that every second counts these days

We've been told it's 87 seconds per box to perform C.O.D

Well, it does seem negligible, but when you multiply that by the number of boxes and then by the number of days, that's four hours in the week. Seems to me if they want to claw every spare minute back, then everything should be accounted for

Place mail in van

Oh and does your van have a secure area for storage of mail?
Nope...
Time taken back at do to place mail in bag?

All in not much about five minutes maybe ....per box....per office.... Per region et all
It all adds up..

OMG! Like an idiot I've been using the back of the van all these years. Should I have been stuffing it down my drawers? I think one person at our place sticks it all in the glovebox - at least that is where some was found several days later!

vans used to have a lockable secure box for specials in the rear of the van

Thanks for the considered reply,my main point was that its possible for mail to get mixed up even if its in a pouch as eventually there will be duties that the pouch wasn't there in the morning,broken etc.or someone may make a simple mistake.my feeling is the vans in general are not great for carrying mail of any type.
Prime example being the lwt ...there are d rings for securing stuff but no way to secure a trolley to it.

The company tries a one size fits all approach every time.

Most days out on a rural delivery I'm handed mail from those living some distance from a post box and it's simple enough putting it in one of the dozen pods in the back of the van I'm working from, so no danger of it going missing before I hand all such ltters to the Sub Post Master on returning to the SPDO.

Yeah, sorry if I was being flippant but it's a pretty staightforward system I use. At the start of the duty I have a tray inside the side door which only has specials and box keys in it, by the end of the day it only has collected letters and box keys in it.

We're going through another DM revision including CoD, and Collection revision. We are using the following values -

Park and Loop, each OPG to get 1 minute per box, so if 4 PO boxes they both get 4 mins each.
Rurals 1 min per PO box, where as before we got no time at all.
Collections from Post Offices 5 mins for normal and 10 mins for busy ones.

We've tried to make sure all boxes are on the same side of the road as van parked, and virtually all of PO boxes can be parked next to.
