The team at Wombwell delivery office in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, have improved their engagement score by 60% in recent years, recording an impressive 91% response rate in 2014.
To develop a new action plan, delivery office manager Dave Owen held a WTLL session to find out what issues his team felt needed addressing.
To make sure he communicated more with colleagues, he began to hold daily huddles to ensure the plan was regularly discussed and updated throughout the year.
New communication noticeboards were also introduced to the office, and the ones already in place were refreshed.

Dave says: ‘More thought has gone into what is displayed. For example, a daily staffing plan instead of the old weekly plan so the team can see what is expected at a glance.
‘They now have a much clearer idea of productivity figures and are more aware of what they are meant to be doing and when. Consequently, there has been a rise in efficiency levels.’
Since the action plan has been put in place, the office has seen an improvement in productivity and a decrease in sick absence.
Well done to Dave and all the team at Wombwell.

MRM:Top tips for increasing engagement scores
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Our DOM doesn't have time in our office to give daily huddles
as he is throwing off lapsed rounds and sorting packets

walk sizes are the big problem! Most too big, & a few too small! nobody using correct methods of delivery all this is causing huge fatigue & joint problems which i only see getting alot worse as we move forwards!

Our DOM put up a huge new free standing and ever looming notice board in our office. It only serves as a constant reminder that we're not meeting targets, we're not getting out when the little clock drawings depict we should, half the staff don't take (or need, more specifically) a break when we're supposed to and that I don't have the time to read the smaller stuff on it.

It's not something we need, I don't care about the figures, I only care about the items at my frame and whether I can finish it within my time.
Anything else is just something to make work for someone.
Not to mention that managers are going out of their way to actively antagonise the workers...........no matter what they have been told to do by their bosses.

Ha ha, this is the same office that has got frames with a base and six wings where almost all are double slots. Rm and planners love showing slides about this place but you'll never see staff giving their opinions.

Well it is funny that a MRM reporter didn't take a camera with him when interviewing 'Dave' as the pic in the article is a stock photo.
Also yes why weren't the staff spoken to like most of the bullshit articles they publish...
