Ward to resign if he loses?

Post by POSTMAN »

Just throwing it out there, there is obviously a bit of Beef going on between him and Billy, and also Ward and HQ,can't be good for the union to have 2 who can not only not work together as the top 2,but also the actual HQ?(Ward)
Ward wrote:It has become clear to me and many others in recent weeks that the opposing campaign is relying on negative messages and some unacceptable tactics as the vote approaches.
We have also seen CWU Headquarters machinery being used to publicise the General Secretary’s campaign.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Talk is cheap, maybe Dave Ward is just one big loud mouth.

All talk and no action?

Both campaigns are using negative tactics, both candidates are as self serving as each other, Dave has the support of the London crew because they want to see their own man in place , nobody in this fiasco of an election gives a f**k about the ordinary members so I really don't know why they expect the members to care whose arse is in the hot seat. My prediction Dave to win with about 70% of a pathetically low turnout.

What will happen to Billy if he loses, will it be the dole queue or a seat on the board.

I thought with the decisions coming out of HQ that the CWU were already board members!

Dave has the support of the vast majority of Branch"s from Scotland , North East , North Wales , North West , Midlands , South Central , South Wales , Northern Ireland , South West , Anglia , South East and London. It is simply being negative to suggest it is just London.

It is clear all the reports that we are getting is that Dave is the candidate Branch's and members want. This unions struggles won't just be in the negotiating arena with the various employees but in the political arena which we have not punched our weight in.

Turn out for the last NEC Elections was just 13%. The turn out for the John Keggie and Dave Ward was 38% and that was a big ballot. Thatcher bought in ballots to home address because turns out would be low. My guess this will be higher than any in recent years.

Seriously is any ordinary member outside of the London conurbation remotely interested in the result. Most Branch officials will choose DW just as a matter of course but they aren't representative of the membership. I would suggest it will be the lowest turnout of any election and in the great scheme of things there are probably fewer members than at any other time. The CWU is a busted flush as far as the members are concerned and it's raison d'etre is merely to remain sat at the table behaving like the proverbial nodding dog on the parcel shelf of a clapped out ford fiesta.

Want for what?
What will Wardy bring to the position?
What are we being asked to vote for?
