Tracked item frenzy
They're trying to come up with a strategy to up the percentage of first time delivery of trackers. The latest one is to leave a notice left card, but don't scan the barcode, return it to the office, and they will then get someone to take it out again later on. At first I thought this was a reasonable idea, however I've since learned that one of the managers was planning to take them out himself, which is not on. Wondering what's happening in other offices on the tracked front?

Re: Tracked item frenzy
I think you'll find that's not the proper procedure MV
I thought the idea of the Tracked system was so customers knew exactly where their parcel was. If your Managers are telling you not to scan and return to the Office they seem to be making a mockery of that.
I like the idea that a Manager was going to try and Re-Deliver them later....... Has that anything to do with it effecting their bonuses do you think?

We now been told not to write out a 739 card and dont scan it.we take it back chuck it in a york where the gaffer has gave overtime to 1 or 2 people to try and deliver them later.which is crap because customers alot of the time find us when were still delivering and get the items off us.how do they know where it is if were not tracking it???????

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This company is weird at times, its the only place I know, or have worked at, that had the weight of checks, balances and legal ramifications of incorrect action focused completely at the lowest possible level.

I don't get this first time delivery. Why are we really so concerned about delivering it first time? We are paid to pass it through the system and deliver, if a customers not in that's not our problem, it's had its service. Other companies charge for redelivery even parcel force.

It's so RM can quote some great eye catching percentage of first time deliveries when advertising tracked services. Plus the screws get a percentage of their bonus related to it.

Re: Tracked item frenzy
Ive noticed since the DOM has someone to take them out later, posties are thinkin sod the neighbour malarky and bringing it back cus there will be someone else that has to piss around later to do it. there was about 25 tracked left today when usually theres about 10.ive known only 4 tracked to come back before this stupid idea.
Also we are told we have no staff because of the budget but where have they found the money to pay 2 people 3 hours each to deliver tracked??????
Its amazing when theres a sniff of bonus.

Re: Tracked item frenzy
no wonder we are near the bottom of this 1st time delivery League table if you have offices doing this.
Now I know why some offices are getting 100% delivery
Most rounds in our office bring back about 4 tracked items a day and treat them the same as any other parcel and we have two rackfulls of tracked.
Hearing what other Delivery Offices are told to do by their DOM's is ridiculous just so DOM's can get a bonus

Wouldn't it be a good idea if the postman/woman got the bonuses for tracked items and mail we take instead of managment

its what the customer wants, they want as many first time deliveries as possible and will use what ever company is going to get the highest rate of first time delivery's, remember the customer is the sender not the recipient

Re: Tracked item frenzy
As it stands for us, it's the line managers coming up with various hair-brained schemes and cunning plans to get the percentage up. At the very least, I expect to have a strategy that covers the whole office, as opposed to different postcodes being given separate instructions which vary from week to week, depending on the latest lightbulb moment. If they want to pay people to take them back out later in the day, that's fair enough, but then again, as mentioned above, people are going to end up making less effort to get rid the first time round. You'd think if it was that big of a deal, there'd be a centralised plan in place.
