Team at Tonbridge helped develop the booking in too
As you know, customers are at the heart of everything we do. We are always coming up with new ideas and initiatives to try and improve the customer experience.
The booking in tool is one such initiative. Identifying the walks that bring back the most items, the tool allows managers to work with duty holders to find ways of delivering more items first time.
Developed by colleagues at Tonbridge MPU, it has also helped reduce customer complaints at the sites’ enquiry office.
Designed by you
Most of the alterations to the tool came from colleagues working with it in Tonbridge. It was their feedback that shaped the end product.
Mark Bothwell, postman, worked closely with those developing the booking in tool. He says: ‘It's just made our job so much easier. We know exactly where items are. We can identify straight away whether they’ve already been collected or redelivered, and so can serve customers more quickly.
‘If you combine that with the progress we’ve made on Delivery to Neighbour, it’s resulted in us receiving around half the number of items back to the office.’
Michael Ansell, manager at Tonbridge MPU, said: ‘The booking in tool was brought to us in quite a raw format, and our team helped make it into an operational tool.
‘More than 100 small alterations were made throughout the process, from first design to the end product. This is now known as the Service Point System, and is being rolled out across other offices.’
The Service Point System is currently in more than 100 offices, and there are plans to implement it in up to a further 260 units by this summer.

Booking in tool:Identifying walks that bring back the most

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This really is cutting edge technology and just in case anyone thinks it will be used as a stick to hit delivery OPGs over the head just remember .... "It was designed by you !!!"

Just because it's been designed by Posties doesn't necessarily mean it won't be used against other PostiesBudfrog wrote:This really is cutting edge technology and just in case anyone thinks it will be used as a stick to hit delivery OPGs over the head just remember .... "It was designed by you !!!"

To be fair to Budfrog I think he was using reverse psychology, as he suffered under something similar (but not related) IIRC, I think he fully realises the implications of this particular employee led Clustersuck.

Apologies to Budfrog . I think we need a designated sarcasm/irony smilie? After all there's some really weird posts on here, that some people are actually serious about!I think the whistling one's fairly appropriate!

No apology necessary ... it just seems to me that RM always look for any excuse to point the finger and that kind of attitude often ends with one being raised in return.Dorset Plodder wrote:Apologies to Budfrog . I take a different view on this, it helps to identify the walks that doorstep everything, the ones that never bring anything back.
