People signing for jobs in resign who are managers

I guess they're not fully fledged managers, but if they're signing against jobs and they're very rarely actually on the job they've signed for, or even in the office, what impact does this have, and should their seniority be taken into consideration?

Ok, fair enough. But what does it mean for an office if you have a number of jobs which are signed for by people who aren't actually there? Does it mean more people have to be employed to actually do the jobs, or the work is just shared out between the rest of the office?

I guess you're right. Just like having a few people on permanent sick, lapse or o/t. Seems completely bizarre to have people in the office who don't actually work there. Spooky, even

Don't forget Area Reps are in a similar position - having their duties 'covered' at the office to which they are attached.

Didn't think of that. I was wondering how it counts when they decide to cut hours out of the office. Maybe in overthinking it

This is very common! It does not necessarily have to be a case of signing for a job whilst being a manager or seconded to another duty, it could have happened before some decides to go for management training, being put in the callers' office or being made a temporary full time or something similar...

The duty will be covered by Reserves. It might also end up being a training round and/or covered on OT or by borrowed staff or Lapsed...
