VR or IHR?
Just an question, which would be more beneficial financially in a hypothetical manner, taking VR with 30 years service ( with two years wages) or IHR with 30 years service (and an enhanced pension but no VR package) and aged 50. Just for interests sake?

Re: VR or IHR?
VR would give you a maximum of 104 weeks pay in one go.
IHR with lump sum would give you 34 weeks pay plus a maximum of 12 weeks PILON.
IHR with pension will depend on the pension you’ve already accrued which will vary from person to person due to allowances, location, etc.
As a general rule, I would have thought the IHR with pension would be better financially over time, but it will only be given if you’re deemed to never be able to work again.
You may be able to work out what you’d get by looking at the relevant guide and relating it to your own figures: http://royalmailpensionplan.co.uk/55/pensions-brochures" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
