Sunday working part of the working week?

spoke about the Sunday trial and advised that whilst the enquiry office trial had been very successful (Sunday is now the 3rd busiest day in enquiry offices) that level of success has not been the same in deliveries, he advised that some of the Sunday delivery services have been rationalised as one point the cost of
delivering a parcel peaked at £26 per parcel.
As expected Royal Mail would like us to agree that Sunday working is part of the working week (with a Sunday Premium), talks with regard to the Sunday trial are continuing as they wish to extend the trial to more offices.

Sunday working as the norm will come. We already have part timers who only work certain days. They will employ people to work the sundays and probably for no extra if unable to find enough volunteers.

Sunday working!!! Not in my world, day of rest, just got to convince the other half of the fact.

Out in the real world Sunday is regarded as just another day, by real world, I mean the non-unionised retail and leisure industries. No premium for working on it. It's our only day off, any attempt to make this a 'normal day' should be rejected out of hand by the union as it is just another exercise in the rush to the bottom regarding our terms and conditions.

£26 per parcel? The few Christmases I've done Sundays I would deliver 20/30 per hour (and get them mostly in), can't see how it would cost that much.

I'd guess it was the total cost including wages and fuel and maybe even turning the lights on in the delivery office

Maybe I'm over simplifying it but if posties normally get Sunday and then one other day off wouldn't it be better if it became part of the working week as then we should be able to get 2 days off together rather than Sunday and then one other random day?
Then we can get completely mortal one day and have a full day to recover :) That's what I'll miss about working in a casino!

Why would working a Sunday mean you would get two days off together?
More likely for most it would just be Tuesday and one other random day....

Ahhh was it the "(if the roster creator has any sense)" quote that gave it away? Am I giving the people in charge too much credit perhaps? I feel I could be in for an incompetence shock lol!

That was once indication, a few days (even hours) working in a DO and you realise that the rosters are not created, more truthfully they are organic and are generated through a mixture of osmosis and Darwinism.
