Docking Overtime and Changing Hours

Recently I have been starting early, 6.20am, every day when my normal start time is 8.08am. Now if i finish my round early say 1 hour, the manager will dock me 1 hour from my overtime can he do that ?

He then suggested that my hours should change to 6.20am to 12.32pm instead of my current times of 8.08am to 14.20pm, but i would NOT be allowed to finish at 12.32pm but i HAD to finish my round then book the overtime.

CAN HE DO THAT !!

You have created your own problem by starting early in the first place.
What were you doing from 6.20 am to 8.08 am?
If your times are altered to 6.20/12.32 pm that you have competed your full contracted shift and if unable to complete your delivery then that becomes your DOM,s problem provided your have followed the correct cutting off procedures concerning advanced warning of incompletion of delivery.
Hope you have learnt a lesson from this.

It may be different in your area but delivery guys are expected to return to the office and then sign out.
If an O/t Docket has been already approved then when you start then probably no because finishing early is to your gain.
However if DOM is aware that you are able to continually finish early then your will find that your delivery area will be increased or return to office for indoor work.

i'd ask for it in writing if i was told/forced to complete on overtime
then a copy would be sent to claim my holiday pay average to a solicitor!
an ex line manager once tried to dock me an hour, a week of boycotting coming in early had another begging me to start coming in again when the office was in chaos

I'd consider myself lucky if the DOM offered to "Slip" my hours forward, he's basically allowing you to finish early which is what we all like.
As previously mentioned you started the problem by coming in early, some DOMs would take the stance that, "You decided to come in early", and they've refused to pay any overtime.
If you're Double -Prepping, and the DOMs agreed to move your start time forward, I'd consider that a good thing. If you always manage to Complete on time. If however you over run it's going to be a problem From what you say he's telling you YOU CAN'T finish on your time and you MUST claim overtime to complete your duty!
I don't believe he can do this....Overtime is not Compulsory............. and no one can Force you to do it. Take it up with your Rep.

Surely if he's being paid overtime to come in at 6:20 he can't dock his wage? Cause then surely he should be docking every other early finisher?

Questions: Do you take your break, do you use a trolley, do you walk and read, do you stick to speed limits and wear a seat belt at all times. Do you perform your vehicle checks every morning. If not, do the job correctly and then see what spare time you have got.

Why on earth when booking overtime do you come back early?
