Cheers my man, but I am sure I have read somewhere, maybe on here that the max (48hrs) is now the benchmark and that Europe has decided that we can't opt out????

AFAIK its still 48 hours Max but the highly bit is that it only applies over a 17 week average.
The opt out can be rescinded at any time by the employee with a letter to line manager.
There are provisions for doing more than 48 hours obviously certain jobs etc are impacted.
Best bet is to read it and find the bit that applies and the parts that are related to it.
