Hypothetically speaking, if someone had handed you a couple of letters near the end of your shift as they didn't live at that address and you stuffed them in your pouch to deal with back at the office and you forgot about them.
You look in the boot of your car the next day and noticed them sitting in your pouch and you're off work for another couple of days, would the best bet to endorse them as gone away and please return to sender and stick them in nearest post box or just forget about them until you returned to work and deal with them.
Suppose the third option would be call your DO and register them.
Just hypothetically if someone put letters in their bag and forgot to empty the bag at the office before heading home and the bag would obviously be in the boot and letters in said bag.

Same question, why would they be in the boot of your car, you did say would obviously be in the boot and letters in said bag
You do know that it is now illegal to use your car for delivering, as you are not insured.

Just endorse the letters & stick them in the nearest posbox so they come back to the office then kill them off
