been off work with doctors sick note ( not fit for work )for nearly 4 weeks with stress , due to wife having premature baby ( 11 weeks early) and all the running back and forth to the hospital NICU everyday
, kept in contact with DO to update then roughly once a week ,but this morn got a phonr call from OH to arrange a meeting with their practitioner , and within an hour also a txt from DOM to tell me my line is up in a few days and to "pop in to update them on my absence .!
is this the correct procedure , at the time of handing in sick line , DOM did say that there are ppl available if i wished and councelling /ppl to talk too, which i declined at the time .!

Dom has to have your permission to refer you to oh assist
Regarding oh assist if you talk to them and explain your illness etc I have found them to be quite good

You would have been better in the circumstances covering your absence from work through the special leave procedure for domestic distress which more than likely would have been unpaid or taken from your annual leave entitlement.dreadz wrote:been off work with doctors sick note ( not fit for work )for nearly 4 weeks with stress , due to wife having premature baby ( 11 weeks early) and all the running back and forth to the hospital NICU everyday

You have opted for a sick note which leaves you to conform with the guidelines in the attendance procedure in relation to maintain contact which you have done and also making yourself available for interviews which you are now being asked.
You cannot be referred to OH Assist without your consent but the practicalities of your situation you are stressed by your home situation but you to keep yourself in the clear should " pop in " as requested and give DOM an update that may all that's being required.
If you intend to extend your absence over 4 weeks by another sick note then I would strongly suggest that you bring OH Assist in on this situation and you may find them to be sympathetic and give recommendations which should appease your DOM as he should accept and honour their suggestions as their appointed occupational health provider.
The worst scenario if failing to follow the sick absence procedure is the stoppage of your wages which seems to be the current trend.
