Go home when you've finished

In the courier, before I wiped my a... sorry but I noticed someone's letter asking why don't we clock off , the answer was "we don't insist you come back if you want dropping off at home" ffs I wish I could be dropped off at home but I can't being a driver.
I get no extra pay for driving a weapon on the roads , risking my life and clean licence , not to mention open to scam crashers and thieves etc.
It's about time, if the lino's must stay behind till 2pm twiddling their bits, they get them out checking vans and what time they all get back and maybe adjust all the lop sided duties cos some are finishing 2 hours early and some take longer than they should.
And can I now just go home when i've finished and get the boss to take my van back cos it's ok for our passengers so the man in the courier said!! spoilt my crap that did

In a nutshell there you have a new attitude appearing whereby the health and safety, care for the worker out on duty espoused by RM officialdom is in fact superseded by a more important cost cutting agenda to reduce payment for traveling time back to base where possible. It stinks. But many workers will go for it until their duty time is reduced and pocket picked.

Now it's official , by whoever answers the questions, a lot in my d.o. will do it leaving just us drivers to drag the bags back and returns, what about security checks, bag checks etc. and how will they know if they've gone home or dropped dead and couldn't make it back etc. I'll raise it tomorrow with "his laziness".

what about when your oppo goes home early then the driver gets sent back out or kept in to time to do some households?

It is a joke of a response to a serious question about clocking in and out.

Basically, RM does not think it will benefit them; so why bother!

"I wish I could be dropped off at home but I can't being a driver." - then drop off the PDA and any returned mail at the Delivery Office then drive the van home on 'overnight retention'.

My partner cant drive and we go past his house when were on the way back to the office.Am I f#ck dropping him off so he can put his feet up havin a fag when Ive been rushing around doing the parcels.Then Ive gotta take the parcels and bags back.Get harrased from manager "have you got rid of all the tracked?" PDA's back on charge.Park van in the tightest space ever.every 2 weeks have to clean the filter on the pissin thing(s**t Fiat).sign the keys back in.thats 20 minutes more.Oh and fill it up with fuel and do van check.

Next time that happens, calmly walk to the sign in/sign out sheet and check those who are on the same hours as you, or any full timers. If any of them have signed out and gone home, point this out and do the same.
Its what I used to do until they got the idea. They soon stopped asking me.

Good idea that, i;m fed up of posting to mates houses when they're already home , we all get paid the same after all.

But why could it be a health and safety issue when it's blatantly obvious who is and who is not in when the premises are probably no bigger than your living room and are crowded with just several people inside ?
