Not too bad thanks, if I was eligible to vote it would be for DW, however I really wonder about the machinations going on behind the scenes at HQ. No doubt all will become clear in due course.

More importantly who do you fancy for the vacant DGS(P) role?
I think as a postal member facing what we will be facing over the next 18 months that is by far the more important job and "promoting" DW to a pseudo-political role might just be the biggest mistake postal members make. Personally I would rather have Dave on the field playing than sitting up in the directors box eating prawn sarnies.

Not even interested in an online vote between these two "heavyweights", the real vote promises to be a nail-biter lol.

Well according to dingo it doesn't matter how many vote because according to him it opens the election for discussion. I actually don't see it myself because if people aren't bothering to vote they certainly won't be bothering to discuss it, at least IMHO.

I think you are looking at things the wrong way fishtank. That's the argument that Billy has fed into the field but it's a red herring.

On who replaces Dave - the Union is a democracy and the members will decide that. Dave or anyone else could drop dead tomorrow. The union wouldn't be finished. That will resolve itself.

The real key point is that your view of the GS role is exactly what BH has made it. That doesn't mean it should be that way. With Dave as GS he can lead negotiations, lead with the media and increase our political profile. He can be a proper GS.

You cannot vote against Dave because you see the GS role as a semi retired job. Dave is standing to change that.

On the turnout - it's up to the branches in both camps to do the work. This is a critical election. For me it's the establishments man (TUC, Labour) and protector of the status quo vs the members man. It's vital to drive this debate into the workplaces.

I go back to an original argument if DW has been negotiating instead of BH for the last 14 years then why would we need a DGSP as well? Just let good old DW carry on and save a salary, he can have a pay rise and be called whatever he likes. As for BH seeing as he has been on one long holiday for the last 14 years maybe the union should claw back the pay for the days he hasn't done any work.
