sick leave and annual leave

Hi
I have been off work for four days with the flu and am meant to have a weeks annual leave starting Monday.

I have been told by my manager that he has cancelled my annual leave due to me being sick without my permission.

I was just wondering if he can do this.

when he says cancelled your annual leave what does he mean? is he expecting you to work or still be off sick?

as if you have a sick line covering you, then you would stay on sick leave and not use any of your annual leave thats what he may mean by saying the annual leave is cancelled (that would be a good manager doing something like that with out the usual having to fight for the annual leave back if he means he wants you to work then he is not so good)

Having been off sick for four days you would have completed a self-certificate for any period under 7 days. If you are not fully recovered from the flu and your self- certificate takes you into the commencement of your annual leave bearing in mind that this 7 days will include the weekend then you will have to inform your manager that you are still sick and follow up with a GP fit note or tell him/her that you are now on your annual leave. Any days of your annual leave becomes sick leave this will be credited to you.
