Re: retirement within royal mail
Anyone leaving voluntarily after the age of 60 is deemed to have retired and as a "good leaver" you keep your shares. You do not have to have permission to retire as there is no longer an enforceable retirement age. Simply give the required period of notice in writing saying that you are retiring and your manager should inform HR who will then advise Equiniti about your status- they should be in touch with your share options within a month. You will have to advise the RM pensions office of your pending status.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

What happens to the shares if you opt to take your pension at fifty eight rather than sixty ?

I would assume that like any employee under the age of 60 you would not be able to access them until they have been in 3 years and they will be taxable if still under age of 60 until you have held them 5 years. Thinking about it though you may actually lose them. You would need to check your prospectus.

If you take your pension and leave RM you'll lose the shares. If you take your pension and continue working for RM, you'll keep them.zapranoth wrote:What happens to the shares if you opt to take your pension at fifty eight rather than sixty ?
