Re-Pick Seniority Question

Post by Wheres_Zorba »

We have implemented our revision in our office and it is now time to have the re-sign. The revision has created 10 more F/T shifts.

Do Part-timers have to wait until all of the current Full-Timers have signed for a shift, before the most senior Part-Timers then can sign for a Full Time shift?

The Way Forward agreement states:

4. On completion of the resign, part-timers will be able to apply for full time jobs that are left vacant by full time
employees, contracted to 41.5 or 40 hours. Exceptionally, part timers who have been in their current role for
less than 12 months will also be able to apply. Full time employees must not be left without a job as a result of
a resign.

There are some Part-Time staff who have more seniority than the present Full-Timers.

I was lead to believe the Dom has to assign so many part time walks or drivers duties, so that the resign goes on seniority with full time and part time picked at same time, at the end of resign u should have so many reserves left, if there are still people left after that they may get put to other offices

Have all the duties been effected by major change or business driven change.
Duties not effected by this change do not have to be entered into the resign pot unless the duty holder wishes to enter their duty into the resign pot.
Full timers would not participate in the resign if they have held their current role for less than 12 months unless their has been a major change to their duty.
The remainder of the duties would be picked on a seniority basis for full time staff and duties not covered when all full time contracted staff have selected would be available to p/t staff on a seniority basis.
Within the resign certain duties would be allocated to employees who are covered by the equality act and ring fenced dependant on their particular medical condition.

Thanks for the replies.

All duties have been effected by the revision and will be in the re-sign.

The DOM is not assigning walks to be P/T or F/T as all outdoor content is equal and it will just be the indoor content that will be added to the duty to make it F/T.

So am I correct in saying that a P/T (with 20 Years of service) will still have to wait until the last 'current' F/T (with 15 years service) has signed for a duty before signing for his new F/T duty.

Thanks again.

This is difficult to answer on the spot until checking and will leave this to others who may be more conversant on this matter.
For what it is worth does the latest AFG&S agreement which contains in legal bindings under section 2.7 that part time contracted hours will be increased where planed supersede the Way Forward Agreement and if so the legal binding of increasing part time contracted hours to full time in a planned revision mean that the part timer seniority will take precedence then this will have to be debated.
Hope an expert on this chat line can give accurate information and clarify this matter

If the revision has created full time positions then they surely must be offered and filled by whoever before the re sign.

If it hasn't changed - yes it can be left out.

If it has changed - No it goes into the Pot.

The 12 months rule is for single duties that come up through various causes but not during a revision. If you select it then you can't move to anothe duty for 12 months, unless there is a major revision.
