What exactly is included in dtft and iwt tools

Post by Pidleypoo »

Management calling me slow so I would like to know any of the following please
1.does it include shared boxes (flats)
2.does it include bagging up the duty
3. We have a lift in our office (we are a first floor office) so some days it takes ages so that's when I have my first meal relief
4.does it include van checks
5 does it include delivery to neighbour

The reason I ask is because I do my job correctly, follow all procedures but those who cut corners and do not those things are never spoken to but because I do and don't want any overtime my performance is questioned.
So I want to go down the b&h/grievance route but would like to have as much info as I can

Heard of iwt but not the other one

I'm in the same boat and have "challenged" every time I've been called slow

I'm currently doing the job exactly as specified to prove a point and its working as they have found that without bullying threats being taken notice of I ain't going over.

Back on track though, every process is measured in our job but only some can be applied to all of us.

The only test that the management can currently apply is the one minute prep test...which can result in counselling or retraining.

All the rest is bollox

Iwt is in my understanding to give management a chance of staffing and creating workflow but can't touch individuals.

My advice is check your job spec and get the grievance forms ready.

Stick to your guns and good luck

Mate,they can ask you anything.

But you only have to work your contracted hours.

Example..I had oh assist phone call put door to doors in,delivered two bags in different areas and was driven to both, then picked up.

All within my time as I point blank refused to go over.

Yeah I actually do work my contracted hours but have to argue everyday about these other things which my "deputy manager" says are included in the iwt
Then I get the usual bullying. I'm not sure how we've got to the point where b&h is not only happening daily but condoned.
And again the ones who don't do the job properly and cut corners, don't take meal breaks so they can lapse and still go over.
How can I be in the position of doing the job right and get harrased. this company has got this the wrong way round and im sick of being in the minorty at our office

Really? Could someone explain in that case, why, when you tell the manager you will not be able to complete and no, you do not wish to go over, do they insist that the absorption is done first? I understand the psychology behind it,however, what is the official line, does the union even have a view?

I actually got an apology today from my manager and it seems I understood the figures and iwt better than they did.so my advice is stick to their plan and if you don't have time for lapsing(or anything past your contracted hours) after that there's nothing they can do.
I won't be bullied or threatened for doing my job correctly and I would say the same to anyone else even though it's a daily battle that can get to you

Your manager can ask you to do any work that you have been trained to do, during your contracted hours. This means he can ask you to complete the lapsed duty first. However, once you have completed your contracted hours, he has no authority over you whatsoever, so you chose either to go home, or stay at work to complete on overtime which you should have agreed before you set out on your deliveries.

That's what i meant but it was filtered through gin
The way I've been explaining it to my management and some fellow Postie's is that I swap five hours of my day for cash from royal mail

They can ask me to do anything that I've been trained on,I regard as safe and reasonable.

When asked to do what I term as u reasonable I challenge politely.....

This has lead to job threats to me and bullying through the roof.

But I won't back down,however I'm lucky.

Not everyone can afford to stand up,but in my case I've proven in ten days that a 25 hour contract on five hour days simply doesn't work.

Unfortunately when it comes to working time directive I'm only covered for six hour shifts.
This means on five hours the break is subject to local agreement.

So I get paid for five hours, still take my half hour break
But I'm only there for four and a half.

My duty is in a York waiting for me bagged and tied, and if there's too much and I haven't been able to accurately gauge how long I'll be I simply say I may have to call an hour before finishing to be brought back.

I'm the only one in a large office doing this.
I don't expect the bullying to stop.
Or the threats and comments.

But I won't back down.

I didn't start this.
