New policy - are they mad?

Post by feduppostie »

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2015/02/new-id-policy

what the hell is this???? So now people can pick up parcels for someone else with no ID for the person the parcel is addressed to but 2 forms of ID for themselves???

Jesus anyone that has worked in the room of doom must know this is madness, what about if a couple has split up, what about if a person lives in a shared house or god forbid they found the card on the floor

<<<shakes head and walks off muttering to themself>>>

When will the first conduct case be for giving a parcel to the wrong person?

Then they'll know who's got it because they had to show their own ID.

I would assume so if this is the policy.

Hi, I thought the same thing when I read this.
The web page I read didn't give all the correct information.

The important bit they missed out was that the person collecting the parcel on someone's else behalf has to have
Photo ID of them selves
And address I'd ( utility bill etc) that IS THE SAME AS THE ADDRESS ON THE PACKET.

They have to be living at the same address as the item otherwise it's a NO

They are sending new posters out to all the callers office, I managed to download one from the intranet.

It's on our 'Opps Bulletin" this week

Nothing's really changed

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/nation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... icy-update

Changes to our ID policy came into effect this week. Our aim is to strike a balance between being easy to do business with, and protecting the mail.

Following feedback from colleagues and customers, the ID policy was updated to give people two clear options when collecting their mail:

1. If the person collecting has ID for the person the item is addressed to, then the card and one other piece of ID from the list are required to release the item. Other forms of ID for the person collecting the item include:

Credit or Debit card
Bank or Building Society cheque/savings book
Valid passport
Driving licence
NHS medical card
Photo identity card
2. If the person collecting the item is not able to bring ID for the person the item is addressed to then they need the card plus two pieces of additional ID for themselves:

Photo ID of themselves: i.e. passport /driving licence etc. (as above)
Proof they live at the specific address the card was delivered to*
The same ID policy applies to all products, including Special Delivery.

Posters detailing the new ID policy will be distributed to all enquiry offices this week, to let our customers know about the changes.

*Proof of address includes bank statement, driving/television licence, utility bill or home insurance certificate. Only original, recent documents will be accepted.
