Can you see any change in near future ? are we got stuck with push and pull trolley ? Its for too much walking and this must be against some kind of health & safety rules ??

Yes - waysiders will be used more and more. Next day delivery will be only for tracked, specials. The USO will be weaker and 5 day delivery will be being pushed as more efficient and cost effective.

I think RM are more focussed on the indoor work at the moment, Attendance patterns will be the next target, some of them are unsustainable already and the more work we lose the harder it's going to be to protect them, Single wave will destroy most of them I suspect, I can't see bench merging working but if it does we're all pretty much screwed and might have to go back to a 6 day week or face large scale redundancies.

What exactly has Bob Gibson signed off?
The revision process is pretty simple.
You have x amount of work.
Either you have a lot of f/t staff - in which case your indoor work is completed earlier, leaving more outdoor time for a longer delivery span.

If you don't want the longer deliveries, you have a higher percentage of p/t staff.
Less indoor hours and shorter deliveries.

In the near future I think we will see performance standards for indoor work (and not the one minute test) and a move to single wave.
Shorter deliveries will only be achieved by a return to a 6 day week.

The. Rm are struggling to get new staff as it is , can you imagine anyone joining in a few years time if they threaten our t& cs

I've heard that RM have had brainstorming meetings with lots of blue sky and out of the box thinking and they've come up with the following for town deliveries;

1) All parcels over a certain size will be given to a dedicated duty (think they are going to be called drivers packets) to deliver.
2) OPG's will be issued with an environmentally friendly delivery vehicle (think they are going to be called bikes) to take the weight off the shoulder and avoid wear and tear on joints.
3) Replenishment points will be placed at strategic places along line of route (think they are going to be called pouch boxes)

Also heard that the brainstormers have all been awarded mega-bonuses for coming up with such a radical idea.

The outdoor trolleys, and even the porters way of working are all causing shoulder , hip injury's as well which dosent bear well for the future.

Walk Optimisation may bring waysiders into some areas but I would say that's further in the future.

TBT I think your wrong about the introduction of say 5 days to deliver. The market wants same day or if your order over the Internet the night before you want it the next day. With the current Royal Mail work plan this cannot happen , I think the work plan will be changed to allow Royal Mail to capture some of this market.
