Go on sorting early due to the fact your in early and have a pop at other colleagues for not coming on!
Fly out of office and go run like a cheetah on round!
Do absorption when over your time!
Have a pop at colleagues for not doing absorption!
Work over your time for nothing!

There is quite a few more I could add but if your reading this and you tick all the above list then can you please explain to me.........WHY?!!!

I don't think age comes into it, at least not in a psychical way. They do it because they have no idea regarding the real meaning of solidarity! And let's be fair, it's not just the young workers taking advantage of a managers dangling carrot. I see people with their knees strapped up going about like a 100 meter sprinter!

The fault lies with management and local union reps. The management turn a blind eye and the union reps are usually on the sorting frame early with the rest of the job killers. That's not to say all union reps, as there are some very good reps that follow the code, but there seem to be more that are 'chummy' with management and take from that what you will..

This will NEVER change.

Happens a lot in our office but in my opinion the CWU have to take a large share of the blame. After years of harassment from the managers we as a smallish delivery office have been left virtually alone to fight our battles. People now decide its easier to do the unpaid work than get daily harassment involving threats,ridicule,abuse of the staffing and holiday system etc,etc. Area rep can't get away fast enough on the few occasions he is compelled to attend.

Spot on. It needs a rep anywhere in the country to bang in disagreements over manager allowing early starters, allowing staff to go out without a break, and allows them to rush round and ignores the fact they ain't using equipment. I fear thought that if a rep does this they'll get undeserved grief from the ones doing it.

Not sure if that's aimed at my post. My point is a rep needs to register a disagreement over the fact managers allow staff out with out a break therefore possibly breaking health and safety, allowing staff to start before their time which is against many agreements and knowingly allowing staff to not use mandatory equipment which can also be a health and safety issue.

I think the union needs to make more posties aware that what they are doing is potentially harmful for jobs and their contracts in the future. I'm pretty sure most of the runners just don't realise the error of their ways. Besides most of the go home early crew do it just because they can, a perk which many other jobs wouldn't allow.

We have had years and years of Do The Job Properly advice from the CWU.
For all its failings I don't think you can accuse them of not banging on about not starting early, taking a break and using the correct delivery equipment.
The people who have ignored it need to take responsibility for their own actions.

It's not the union's fault,some people haven't the bottle or the backbone to say no to imtimidation by managers,it's what is known as the victims syndrome,some people are born to be victims and some aren't,by coming in early and rushing around they are effectively giving in to the managers despite the excuses they use to try and justify their actions they are cowards and have probably never stood up for anything in their lives.
