Im waiting for an induction day date and wnated to know what i should be wearing?
Jeans? smart trousers? trainers? boots? at a total loss

There's no real expectation to dress up for the induction day as you have the job anyway, but I dressed smart/casual. I know several in my group didn't really make any effort at all, embarrassing really.

Smart casual but until you get your uniform don't wear jeans you will just be uncomfortable. Try to get some combat trousers as you need some pockets and some good quality footwear

Combats that don't chafe,decent hiking/walking boots..check Amazon warehouse deals etc.waterproof jacket..you don't get uniform for a while but having decent kit makes life easier... Oh and comfy walking socks and blister plasters

How about going to a fancy dress shop and renting a Postman Pat uniform, just to show you're willing and ready

I very much doubt if a "very happy" smilie (
) has ever been successfully used as a defence against a charge of Gross Misconduct. And you are very fortunate that 'purple squirrel' is apparently broad minded enough to probably not have taken offence.
