I remember you saying CCR that your area had TNT walkers now and you had noticed the subsequent lack of letters. Has your office actually (or are you aware of any other) lost personnel for reasons directly attributed to TNT?

If so this means OFCOM need a rocket up their a$$ as unfair non-USO competition is starting to affect us personally, not just RM's profit sheet.

I don't give a monkey's about any agreements because when this starts happening I would consider this 'exceptional circumstances' and fully expect the CWU to allow a vote or instruct us not to handle this material. It wouldn't be a long struggle as within days those cherry-pickers would have their ability to operate ruined and would not be able to provide their customers with the service they are selling. See how they all like it when the boot's on the other foot.

Absolutely agree, we have whistle in our area and mail is down. Every so often we get whole bundles of whistl mail still in sequence for different roads where they obviously cant be bothered to deliver......I cant get my head round why we don't just say to whistl fcuk off instead we bend over backwards to help them
Can you imagine a small independent shop starting to sell Tesco (other supermarkets are available) brand products knowing that Tesco where opening a new store in the area!

Just exchange a friendly nod in passing. They are enduring same freezing conditions as us but on a lower wage. They are just out to make a living like the rest of us and probably getting shafted from their version of DOMs too.

I am expressing a wish that in the near future if this unfair competition endangers us to the point of job losses en masse, that our bloody Union has the balls to take the bull by the horns (OFCOM being a waste of space and government can't be assed to sort out their mess) and ballot us on a recommendation we act ourselves and boycott this mail for a short period to force home a point that those outside RM and much of the public can't seem to understand.

im a floater on park an loop so on 10 walks a week and see the same tnt/whistle lads and girls....some are decent 1 or 2 look the other way,,,,if there decent I`ll pass the time of day,,,,,ive held letterboxes up for em,,,,ive posted mail instead of 2 of us walking down the same path,,,,

I was in another job...public transport for years were we had competition,,,,you learn to live with it

Rumor is TNT/whistle are leaving Liverpool as they can't make it pay! Hope its true! We let there tyres down on their bikes! They just dump half there mail in a postbox and we keep it out on the primary sorting!

See the same lads and lasses on my rdc duty and all apart from one always say hello....... they are the same as us just trying to make a living so am always polite back

Had the same one delivering to me since they started in Manchester in November 2013. He's a good lad who has stuck with the job. Others in the area that I delivered to were just like us when we all started, uncertain, unskilled and trying to earn a difficult living. I cannot understand why some people on here see them as an enemy when they are merely a challenge to our undeserved monopoly.

Surely it is better to help them with advice if they are lost than to risk mail being returned to us for delivery and to pass a pleasant comment on a wet lonely day rather than be an unpleasant unfriendly misery.

Our business has changed in the type of mail it deals with and for the most part, Whistl are now delivering many of the items that we didn't look forward to doing, such as many of the catalogues and voucher posts and utilities. Those items leave us with the gaps that enable more packet deliveries, which is where we are growing and Whistl don't bother.

Mail volumes haven't dropped - they have changed in structure and I believe there is enough to support other business's. Believe me, many of the present situations of poor levels of staffing and increased lapsing have nothing to do with competition and everything to do with Royal Mail being allowed to screw us because of staff indifference and union ineptitude.

Whistl won't leave Liverpool or anywhere else because it "doesn't pay" - their growth is long term and slow but quite determined, and as their size increases I am sure that their terms and conditions will rise to meet RM's on the way down.
