Hospital appointments

Post by whisperstar24 »

Does anybody know the actual position on paid entitlement for release to hospital appointments now?
I checked out the latest summary from royal mail policy and it is totally ambiguous.
Personal

Medical appointments: If you’re unable to get a medical appointment outside of working hours, speak to
your manager to decide whether you can change your shift or make up the time. In some circumstances
where that’s not possible, you may get paid time off.

It was always a case before that provided you worked before hand you could be released at the end of the shift.
Now its implied you have to make up the time unless you have a good manager who will let you go!!

If you have an illness which is covered by the equalities act you may be entitled to paid time off for appointments but if not no right to paid time off entirely at the discretion of your manager unfortunately
