7.5 tonne

I'm currently a postman but have toyed with the idea of driving the 7.5 tonne lorries. However, I never see these jobs advertised. Are they tough to come by? And for those in the know, what's the rate of pay? I'm led to believe it's more than what I'm on now.

Quick reply cos I'm typing on my phone. In our area it goes like this.
Vacancies advertised on network/distribution notice board. Criteria for applicants.
1) current mgv drivers
2) light van drivers
3) any opg working in attached mail centre.
4) any opg from any other office.

You need a CPC certificate to drive 7.5 vehicles but the company would put you through this if you were the successful applicant.
Pay is approx £450 but overtime is limited because you would be a professional driver.

the law has changed. old duffers like me got the training package free at rm recently.

certificate of professional competence. you need one to drive a tacho vechicle nowadays. the course is about 40 hours . rm do it 8 hours at a time over a year. then you get refresher days. the way of the world now im afraid.

not to sure. you just need it if you drive 1 for a living I believe.

Hi does anyone know how to apply for these jobs? I am about 40 miles away from my local hub and therefore cannot see when driving jobs are being advertised.
