Specials clarity

There are differences of opinion in our office regarding specials on Saturdays. One opinion is that they do not have to be delivered by 1pm unless they are Saturday Guaranteed, the other opinion is that they should be delivered by 1pm. Can someone please clarify ?

Going by how they are dealt with in most depots, customers who have paid an extra premium for a "SG" Special should be getting a refund on the price difference above a standard Special.

SG Specials guarantee a delivery attempt before 1pm Saturday, standard Specials that go into the system on Friday are guaranteed a delivery attempt by 1pm Monday.

RM, unsurprisingly, have an amazing tracking system that groups them altogether (allegedly). So a standard Special delivered after 1pm is registered as a failure, apparently!

... Or do managers get extra bonus for early clearing of all Specials?

If it comes from the RLE then it's to be delivered by 1pm, they scan them in as being available so they become active.

The only specials that shouldn't be attempted on a Saturday are ones with an official Saturday Retention in place

Monday to Friday (and may include Saturday if you have opted to have a Saturday guaranteed delivery)

So there is no 1pm sat unless its a sat guaranteed item.

There is no clarity with how specials should be treated on a Saturday, even if there is a Saturday retention it should still be attempted as the customer could be there waiting just for the special, in my office redelivery specials are treated the same must be attempted before 1, yet why should they be as the service they paid for expired the first day delivery was attempted

So, if a standard special delivery goes out on Saturday it does not need to be delivered before 1pm on Saturday. If a Saturday retention is in operation, it is scanned on Saturday as "inaccessible" at our office and delivered before 1pm on Monday. So would this then mean that it is no longer guaranteed before 1pm on Monday?

With an earlier finish on Saturday surely it's no problem to deliver ALL Special Deliveries by 1pm on Saturday
and it shouldn't really be our concern whether or not those forking out the extra £4 for 'SG' have paid over the odds.

I can only speak for my office but any SD's scanned out for delivery on a Saturday DO NOT FAIL if they are delivered after 1pm
( obviously sat guarantee must be made before 1pm)

Unless the customer has paid for Saturday guarentee then items posted on a Friday are not guaranteed until Monday.
