Union rep vote of no confidence

Post by knoxycube »

How do you give your local rep a vote of no confidence and get him removed with immediate effect?

Even if you had a vote of no confidence it doesn't mean you will defiantly get rid of the rep. He has a mandate until the next time the rep is due to be elected you would need to get some one to stand against him at the election

In tne five years I have been there has never been an election. We now have two others willing to stand for election but no idea when we can call for one?

Contact your branch and ask when the election is due also ask the process for nominating someone you will probably find no election for past 5 years as no one stood against him hence no ballot

You will have to ask your Branch about vote of no confidence procedure however in ours it worked like this:
You petition the members - get a majority. Make sure everyone's name and pay number and union membership is clearly displayed. No non union members.
Inform your branch (and Wimbledon).
Your rep then has a right to reply.
Here it gets a bit cute because his right of reply is at a time and place of their choosing and then you have another vote.

If you get a majority to sign the petition, common sense dictates the rep will either agree to an election or do the noble thing and stand down.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I spoke to tne branch today and I have to do a round robin and get 2 thirds of union members in our office to sign it and they say 9 times out of ten the rep usually quits when that happens so hopefully that will be enough to get him out
