Lapsing/absorbtion

Post by ashley.s.launn »

Can a DOM day they will "manage the mail" (i.e. tell me to leave certain things behind) in order that I can complete my allocated lapsing today?

Make sure you have a witness...just in case
They can do that but they have to have recorded it.

Therin lies the sticky bit, some Dom's may develop amnesia if asked why certain mail never went out.

Cover yer butt make sure an extra pair of ears are near.

lapsing and absorbing have two different meanings one means taking extra on top of your workload and book overtime, the other means performing the extra within your contracted hours.

The answer to your question is no he should not be asking you to leave mail so you can take the lapsing and if it is absorbing this should mean you do the work on top of your normal duty within your contracted hours otherwise you should not be taking it, unless of course you want the overtime.

You need to E-mail our leader she will love to hear this is happening.

Thanks for your answers. In the end I didn't take any extra mail out as the lino gave it to someone else. Still went over by an hour, which I was happy to do as I'm generally willing to do a bit of overtime. Good to know for future reference, though. :-)

I Thought Offices had different words for the same thing,I mean we call it absorption, other offices call it lapsing.Meaning to take part of another delivery to do in your duty time, not as overtime?
