First day back after xmas manager wants to lapse -3 icy and slippy, his dsm says lapse , then he tells me he has to take 77 hrs out of our unit, no consultation with me as the rep disagreement going in legally binding my a##e come on hq take a look out of your ivory tower , by the end of next year the union will have disappeared

No one has agreed to a loss of ft jobs a while back we agreed a ft pt ratio but not a reduction in head count

Yes but if say an office of 50 had a note on the board saying 'put your name here for VR' - Then my guessing is that it would be pretty full. IF they don't get the Buy Downs, then as seen, they will offer VR and replace with PT.

Old timers have had enough and many want out if they can guarantee a few quid.

Someones gotta pick up the work, it won't just disappear, hence the annual lapsing agreement and hence the increase of PT in DO's. RM will change the ratio and get whatever they want with the Union using the waving flag of citylink as a prime example of what can happen if they don't capture costs. - Before it was 'Oh TNT, oh Amazon' but now they have been gifted the golden Joker card.

Union have not got a leg to stand on as RM have proven and shown, that they can beat down almost any argument, they look like they are defending the last castle after the rest have fallen.

Way forward gents, bigger walks, longer hours, more harassment.

Royal Mail is looking to save money for short term. It is time for Royal Mail to think long term and sustainability business.

1. all the longer walk will cost Royal Mail money
- More sick pay from injuries
- More ill health retirement from injuries
- Postal worker live longer due to increased fitness costing more pension.

Royal Mail need to look at white collars and managers for cut not postal workers. Also it need to offer something for customer to collect parcels without us attempting delivery. I would like to see more tracked mail and less recorded delivery.

I think its worth mentioning that even if RM want to make more lapsing, and make the walks bigger etc, they still can't force you to work over your time

Exactly, RM can lapse what they like, if you have time do it, we had lapsing saturday, didn't do it and didn't complete our walks either, no lapsing yesterday and cut off, today we completed but had no time for lapsing. Think the managers took it out, start on time, have your breaks, work your contracted hours.
