transferred postie with own hours

Post by martygee »

Postman recently transferred to our DO and even though vast majority of our office works 5 weeks on 1 week off Hereford/Wallington system, with 4 members working rotating weekly day off, new postman comes to us and apparently carries his supposedly Monday to Friday only hours to our office. ex union rep and apparently a pain in the arse in every office and given these hours recently to appease him. can he keep these hours after transfer to our office. this impacts on less chance of Saturday leave for rest of staff.

If your manager has agreed to it then yes however if it impacts on pre-existing office agreements (sat off) then speak to your rep about it.

What was the exact reason for giving him these hours?

Its more likely the case your manager was told he's getting him on whatever terms/conditions he's on, would say there's nothing you can do they've just moved someone on who may have been a pain in the arse for management but maybe that's because he's actually prepared to "stick his head above the parapet", dare say we'll never know.
