Stepping stones - VR, Buy downs & Lapsing

Post by The_Wax_Man »

Just a question I've been thinking about and would like to hear the Unions view.

RM & CWU earlier this year basically through the 'Agenda for growth' agreement, signed the 'Annual Lapsing paper.

We know RM's business plan is for a big headcount/hours, Buy Downs, reduction for 2015.

With revisions still failing and with the knowledge of RM's plans, why has the union allowed this to happen ? - RM must be falling over themselves about how they can outwit the union with 'stepping stone' agreements every few months leading to a bigger picture fallout.

I can only see staff doing bigger, longer rounds, more harassment from lino's, heavier rounds and an increase in stress levels amongst OPG's ?

Same volume of works gotta get done right, inc increase in packet volumes. Or are we really OPG top heavy in the DO's

my opinion?

RM believe we are full time top heavy in DO's - think about it buy downs, VR they want rid of the 'old guard' who are mainly full time and Union members

Most PT I know are on 25 hours and don't bother to join union

Get rid of the old guard and you win on all counts

You reduce hours, you reduce membership of the union and therefore it's strength and you get a p/t workforce ready to do any amount of work because they can't afford to live on a 25 hour wage

And they will get it if people do not wise up and stop working for free by coming in early, start doing the job properly and take their breaks ( yes it is a broken record but it is also true)

wake up!!

yeah feduppostie i totally agree with you, i'm just glad i've only 23 months to go, i do not think you will be able to stop this tide of the destruction of RM,I think we will be working 8 till 4 monday-friday,part-timers delivering the rounds on zero contracts, with only a few full timers starting early prepping frames. rurals only delivering to customers if they have enough mail for them. Hope i'm wrong for the poor b*****s left.

The rm. will suffer if they get rid of a lot of really experienced ft postmen. Some of the guys they are getting in the door now are near useless . Dosent help we are working in pairs now . Why does one office make sure everyone starts at there time and next dosent ? Why isn't this universal ?

to be honest why would the cwu top nobs be interested in there members , they now have there feet under the table with r/m so will sign anything r/m want them to , the cwu and reps know what goes on the delivery offices on a daily basis and what staff are up against and just totally ignore it and then you get bob Gibson signing an all year lapsing ,I think he needs to get off his arse and try the job and our area rep just totally ignores phone calls , texts , he is also signing agreements off with our dom with no members input so to be honest we are in s**t street. im wishing for vr.
