Why was it so light today?

Monday was manic in our office, how can the mail/parcels suddenly drop off so drastically today? There must be loads of people still trying to get parcels through for delivery before christmas?

Are mail centres being told to hold things back?

Always thought the parcels would slow down
But we had over twice the amount of specials as normal

Sorry to disappoint you, but Mail Centres never deliberately hold anything back.
Only yesterday we were mixing 2c packets in with the 1c because we had run out of work!

we were light om mail but most walks has specials in double figures.

our walks had laods of special todays. we had 14 on ours, average weve been having is around 2 - 5 over xmas. most walks had over 20

Light here today but instead of the normal 4 or 5 specials........had twenty-bloody-one. All tied up and ready to go just after nine ( a first for us) but cage was no way close on being ready with specials

....So dropped me oppo off with his lighter-than-light load, did a few packets then toodled back to Delivery Orifice and picked up specials after 10am and headed out for the second time.......once again headline reads Royal Mail Shocked That Christmas is in December.

Mail volumes should be down and it should be an earlier finish - I think!

Our MC is still sending work out to delivery offices, they were asking people to go in on OT tonight doing inward IPS because there are loads of 1st class cards still to be sorted (all had postmarks from before the last posting date). We had people pulled off duty to do MC work and we had to double collapse, then anyone back early had to go on IPS too.
