Lets hope we get a few people going for various positions rather than having the same as we have now, of course I'd still be in the dark about them until they put out their spiel about why we should vote for them, as anyone above Area Rep or Branch sec' seem to think we OPG don't need to know who they are. I'll be dissapointed if the same people who are in post now get through unchallenged.

Yes very interesting and amusing where it states the GS is the chief negotiator :chuckle bet he goes through quite a few pairs of keks a year. We all know it's going to be a nice little stitch up for all those currently in post and should Billy lose he'll be shuffling off with a not inconsiderable pension for life paid for by the HARD working members of the union who had their pension cut.

Pity Linda Roy isn't - she has my vote whenever she stands. I have met the top 2 and Linda and I consider her the best Orator, negotiator and I think she has a better presence when interviewed. She also has the common touch, very easy to get into conversation, and always answers any query put to her.

Dvbuk Billy already has his pension ! TBT your entitled to your opinion , I have met and dealt with all three and there is a reason why Dave and Billy have got to their postions and they have both served as negotiators at local , area divisional and officer postions within the CWU.

Did he take it at the same time as the £29,000 for his holiday money? Is he receiving a reduced amount by taking it before he's 65 or is that reduction only for the members, with a CWU ruling totally in the union employees favour? It's a bit like the old MPs system whereby they awarded themselves a nice little honey pot. I only wish I could say erm, erm with the same conviction Billy does and perform so admirably in front of the media. I do believe there is an opening at Blackpool Circus this summer should he lose his union post, though I think there is an interview stage rather than just an election.

Why?
It's a show election anyway, Dave's a shoe-in and Billy knows it, his eye is on pastures new probably having Christmas dinner with AJ.....
It's not as if there is any dramatic change of direction coming no matter who wins.

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Pete Townshend.....born in West London of course. :whistle

Is that AJ or BJ :hmmmm Easing his way in gently do you think before the 2020 Election. Hoping for a seat in Kirby, so he'll be brushing up on the erms for then. No doubt the lesser mortals will be hoping to move up the pecking order :hmmmm wonder if I'll get a shout maybe dingo would sponsor me for a nice little earner just for keeping a seat warm.

I like his sense of humour but in all seriousness 2015 will be a big year on both the political and industrial sides of the union and I think Billy wants away, I don't think he wants to walk and leave a hole to fill so this suits all involved, It's more of a coronation than an election because the one person Billy can't beat in a head to head is Dave and Billy is smart enough to know it.

I'm more interested in the vacant DGSP slot because it's a poisoned chalice. Next year will see huge pressures on jobs and terms and it won't be pretty.

You're absolutely right ft. I think Billy has smelled the coffee and Dave has already embedded himself in the RM/CWU culture. There are difficult times ahead that bode ill for the members. Dingo may bluster about how difficult the commercial future is but is that not why the CWU are paid to protect the members from the irrationality of the decisions taken on the altar of commercialism.

Fish I don't buy what your saying. Billy's 5 year term was due to end in 2016 and he has requested to go a year early for election the question if he knew he was going to lose why did he request to go a year early therefore possibly losing a years salary ! Maybe as some say he might have a back door in general election year !

Dvbuk unions which ingnore what is happening within their industries normally end up as a union without members in an industry lets just look at how many miners there are now , how many print workers there are now , how many dockers there are now and how many car factories there are now ?

Your suggestion is we stop dealing with facts and pressures we face would be a total disaster to all members. Nothing is easy in today's climate and not everything the union does is right but ingnoring the threat from the shareholder , off com and competition may sound good to post on here but it will not serve the members well.
