As the title says, can someone explain what the missort run is?

Its the van which collect missorts ie Huddersfield has missort runs to/from its various sub offices.

Well we used to have a missort run before the revision and it was a pain.
What happened was a van was sent from each office in the area to meet up at one office and exchange any last local missorts, usually found in the mech. Once they all exchange a few letters they returned to their offices. You could not go out until your driver returned which sometimes took time due to rush hour traffic.
Often he would return with less than 10 letters. I hardly ever got one. It was a waste of our time and hated.
This was scrapped following the revision as everyone needs as much time as possible now.

They tried this in our DO. It lasted about two weeks. Absolute waste of time, keeping us for about half an hour and all for the sake of about two or three letters for some posties and sod all for the rest!

We have one to our sub-office. Years ago it used to be one small bundle but now it is usually 5 or 6 trays and a couple of bags

If they got it right first time, then there would be no need more a missort run. World Class my arse. We get hundreds each day. You leave a letter in the frame then all hell breaks loose, doesn't matter about the piles sitting the frame from all over the country that aren't going anywhere that day. We get Special delivery items at our office that are not ours, so some poor colleague has to go and take it to some distant office.

30 mins to our MC and 30 back plus 10 mins in there pissing about.
That's 5 hrs 50 mins a week kept in the office for nowt, and the flyers hate it so it's win/win for me.
