Can the PEC rubber stamp a deal?

That's the question. Just want to know if they've got the power within CWU constitution to accept the deal themselves, without a formal vote by membership, on Monday. Couldn't find rules to look it up myself.

Yep, I keep asking this as you've probably noticed.

CWU rule book

Looks like they've got the power to call but the rules are silent on power to call off. And if the rules are silent, the NEC have the power to decide.

So (if I'm interpreting this right - and I might not be of course) - potentially yes, they could.

To clarify, I think the NEC could overrule the PEC. Not sure though.

Its changing our pay, terms and conditions.

All the PEC will do is reccomend it to us!!

Any offer on pay and conditions must be put to members. We will decide in a postal ballot. So we still have the power to reject or accept. I for one will be looking very closely at the offer before I decide. I will most likely reject though.

I'll be looking very closely at the flexibility part. If they think people who can do 3.5 hour deliveries in 2.5 hours are going to go do extra work whilst others take their time, they can think again. Delivery is a very labour intensive part of the job. We should all do the same amount of delivery, regardless of how long it takes you individually.

Equalise the rounds!
Bring in summer efficiency!
But you are not making me do 5hours of duty because I could do it in 3.5hours.

Any deal should definitely be put to members- but even before looking a postal ballot of the members surely there should be mass meeetings to decide whether to accept it and a national meeting of all reps

Postal ballots are just a stalling tactic but agree absolutely that the PEC should be held to account
