Hi everyone just after some advice please iv been struggling to finish on my time for quite sometime now so the odd days iv been putting overtime down now at first the manager refused to give me it so i told him i wanted my rural round timed with him sitting in with me ,to which he replied hes gonna time someone else on my round when i was off ,so i said no im the one with the problem time me so to cut a long story short he timed someone on my round and they got back 40 mins before time but they had no break plus they missed 105 delivery points out of about 400 , the trouble is that in our office we have idiots that are running ,not taking breaks , making constant mistakes and not delivering mail i feel i am up against it, i do the job 100% correct and im getting slated for it , we start at 7.30 and most of them go in early and start at 7 or earlier so when i go in at 7 .25 they are constantly having digs at me because they are sorting more mail than me and as for lapsing i cant finish on my time now without the extra work and by the sounds of it this coming year there is more and more lapsing coming sorry to bore you but just cant take much more

What does your rep say? If he's ineffectual go to the area rep. Don't let the lickspittles get you down, being who they are leaves a nasty taste in their mouths. Also use the overrunning delivery procedure if you're not being paid for overtime.
Not easy to stick to your guns I know but is the alternative of becoming one of the runners with the attendant stresses a better choice?

If your DM refuses to pay you overtime, you simply don't do it. Take your full meal relief, then if its looking likely you won't complete due to an unachievable load, inform the DM you will be cutting off. But as advised, the local rep needs to be on the case of this one. It all sounds a familiar story.

A walk that needs time testing should be done when its a average to heavy day so as to get a mean average, not on a Tuesday in August or similar.

I am afraid this goes on in every office. There is always someone who can knock 30 mins off a delivery by tearing around.

As others have said get your rep involved. If they will not pay overtime then with your rep present tell the manager you are cutting off on your time.

Oh this brings back memories....a few years ago I was on a round in a very affluent area of the city...I was on it for a few years...customers loved me and I loved them and I was happy to do the job as customers knew what time they would get their mail every day.
Then managers decided that more needed to be added to this particular duty, but was to be tested first.
The CWU rep agreed I would be tested on my walk...ended up going over by 20 mins or so...the manager who tested the walk with me could find no issues with my prep/sorting/speed on delivery and in fact wrote I was a credit to the business in his report.
Managers at my office still wanted to add more to the duty.
So eventually after being systematically hounded for weeks/months by management and even my own CWU rep (who went onto to become a manager) the walk was tested yet again...this time they got postie in much younger and fitter than me...(who had been off sick for a huge amount of time prior to testing my walk)..did the walk (which was incredibly hilly and with the longest driveways imaginable ) completed the test 30mins early under the not so watchful eyes of both the CWU rep and Manager who allegedly stood at the end of each road and waited until this postie run back to them.(who also admitted to another colleague that he cut through bushes/climbed over fences during the test).
They eventually added more roads to this duty...more long driveways....more hills...to such an extent I chose off it as I struggled to complete on time and was physically shattered by the time I finished each day....over time it went to several other posties...younger and much fitter than myself...each and everyone failed to complete every time on time...many went off sick with knee/back injuries...anyone who went the on duty usually claimed at least a couple of hours overtime...in the end the customer lost out as nobody would touch the walk with a barge pole...(even part timers hated it)..it has changed now under the park and loop scheme, but many customers from this area often tell me now they get their mail late into the afternoon each day and remember the good old days when I was on it and they got their mail at a regular and early time which they were grateful for as many of these folk worked from home...shoddy management...appalling cwu rep at the time...and a postie intent on showing another colleague up whatever the cost (and for whatever reason)...ruined a good(but not easy) duty.

So true mate exactly how this is going ,we have idiots that keep saying they want more lapsing to make it more of a challenge none of them even have a break ,thanks everyone for your advice and rd kill I will stay strong

Sounds like you need a new work place coach. A bully shouldn't become work place coach, it defeats the object.
