Just a quick question. If a tracked item has a SafePlace on it and you leave it there and it goes missing can Royal Mail hold us accountable? Cheers.

If you leave any mail (including D2D I might add) in a place where you know it is insecure (so anyone could come along after you and pick up the items), you will not be protected, even if it is listed as Safe Place on tracked item.

It is our responsibility to leave all mail in places we believe are secure.

It is not our responsibility to check porch doors are locked. If a delivery point has a letterbox on the porch door and it appears shut, we can post items through it. If we open the door to leave an item in the porch and walk away, we are leaving mail insecure. If the porch door is not shut and it holds the only letterbox, items should be endorsed and taken back to the depot.

i left one item and kinda wished i didnt. im sure itll be fine this time but next time i wont bother. too much of a worry.

yeah thats what i thought. itll probably be ok but ill know better next time. hopefully itll all be fine. soon find out tomorrow i suppose. :-/

i dont get why they have safeplaces then if technically nowhere is safe. also the customer can lie. its stupid. i wont leave anything in a safeplace from now on.

Being tracked you would think it has some value to it yet you can leave it in a "safeplace", but a cheap chinese packet has to be slipped!
Recorded /signed for letters are a pain and we should be able to scan them and post them as the customer paid an extra £1.10 to see it get there.
Tracked should be no signature so all small ones can be pushed through and sd's should be next day anytime , not by 1pm.
A full overhaul of the barcode systems should take place asap.

If a tracked has a Safeplace printed on it, then it's an official customer request and you should leave it there. Our managers say if we're uncomfortable leaving anything then take the item to them first and they'll take a copy of the label. Our Dom has specifically said nobody will be held responsible if this is followed and anything goes missing. The customer has officially requested it hence the risk is theirs.

This applies to tracked items only with a specific Safeplace printed on the label.
