Yodels' inept service

Post by Nigel1505 »

"Courier firm Yodel has apologised to customers for delays to its parcel deliveries and says it expects to clear the backlog in its distribution centres by the end of the weekend.

Yodel has told clients there will be no collections from distribution centres while it works on the backlog.

It has blamed the delay on a higher-than-expected jump in online orders following the Black Friday sales.

It hopes to resume normal service on Monday".

How about RM resuming normal service on Monday, that will give me and a lot of other colleague's a break from 11 hour days and a decent weekend break, before the onslaught next week................some hope. :Very Happy

They will be 'stepping' parcels like crazy over the weekend. And if they go missing the first thing a customer thinks still is that it is Royal Mails fault. (As some people still think we are the only ones delivering parcels).

So that's the flaw in these lean mean and cheap business models. They haven't got the infrastructure or capacity to pump up the volume. Can you imagine the out cry if we did that! You pay peanuts for a service then don't be suprised if monkeys are running the service.

The CEO was seen on BBC News with a banana singing "I'm the King of the Jungle, I'm the jungle VIP" - because that is what the delivery market has turned into.

Well this year might be different but I only remember 1 Christmas when we still had parcels left in 25 years.

I think we are missing the point here, the reason that they are struggling to cope is that they have taken so much of our potential work. it doesn't sound good for us in the new year if the parcels that were going to save us are being taken by other couriers. I expect more job losses though most will probably be natural wastage and by not filling vacancies. ime not dreaming of a white Christmas but of IVR!

Yodel struggle every year with parcel volumes at christmas, they don't have the extra capacity in their network to cope! And Judging by the mountains of parcels in my office every day we aren't doing to bad.

They will dump them on us at the end of next week for the cheapest service. DSA or 2nd class. Then if they fail its RM fault and not their own.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

It could means mass dumping of parcels via DSA next week. I hope the retailers make note of their performance and not to renew their contract with Yodel and co.

Then Royal Mail will have to expand as we won't have time to lapse walks anymore. :nana
