We’re entering the next phase of our Together for Growth programme
We are entering phase two of our Together for Growth (TFG) programme, which was designed to help managers and reps put our ground-breaking deal with the CWU into action.
Together for Growth has been designed jointly with the CWU and Unite/CMA and is made up of three modules.
The core purpose of the training programme is to support managers and union reps so they can improve their professional working relationship, in line with the commitment to cultural change contained in the Agenda for Growth agreement.
Phase one is now complete and saw directors, DSMs, plant managers and union representatives take part in sessions held across the country.
Phase two will bring together front-line managers and union reps at 23 locations across the country.
Anna Sargent, collection and delivery sector manager for Derbyshire, completed the programme in phase one. She is encouraging managers to ‘grab the opportunity with both hands’.
Anna says: ‘Bringing together directors, DSMs, plant managers and union reps gave us the chance to draw out what is positive and not so positive about the way we work together, recognise it, and build on it.’
A key focus of the programme is taking time to assess what is working to drive your area forward, and what might be holding it back.
‘The modules have provided us with some fantastic context and the chance to put a mirror up to ourselves both individually, and collectively,’ added Anna.
Derbyshire Area CWU rep Chris Sheldon, who completed phase one with Anna, says: ‘It will be of benefit to our wider team of 1,000 postmen and women, and to our overall performance.’

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
